Sir Wayne Thomas "Buck" Shelford KNZM MBE

Wayne "Buck" Shelford is a former rugby union player from New Zealand, born on January 13, 1957. He is widely regarded as one of the most iconic All Blacks players of all time, having played for the national team between 1986 and 1990, during which he served as the team's captain.

Shelford's career was marked by his toughness and resilience on the field, as well as his leadership skills. He is perhaps best known for the "Battle of Nantes" match in 1986, during which he suffered a horrific injury that left him with a torn scrotum. Despite this, he continued to play on and led the team to a famous victory.
